The Stillwater speech team finished 11th in the nation out of 206 teams who qualified for the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions (NIETOC). The tournament brings together the nation’s best and brightest students and teachers in Oral Interpretation and Public Address.
Three SAHS students competed at the NIETOC, with Gursimrat Dahry becoming the school’s first-ever national finalist. Dahry was the runner up in Extemporaneous Speaking and placed 3rd in Informative Speaking.
The two other Stillwater students advanced to elimination rounds at the tournament. Marit Hickey placed 16th in Informative Speaking, while Ava Roots placed 35th in Extemporaneous Speaking.
Overall, the team finished as NIETC runners-up in Division I (four entries or less).
