STILLWATER, Minn. -- Feb. 13, 2024 -- For their outstanding play on the ice, a pair of Stillwater Area High School seniors are earning state recognitions by Let's Play Hockey.

For her effort between the posts this season, Stillwater girls' hockey netminder Lily Timmons has been named a top-10 semifinalist for the 2024 Jori Jones Award, while fellow Pony Josie St. Martin is a top-10 honoree for the 2024 Ms. Hockey Award.

Presented to the top senior girls' high school hockey player in the state, the Ms. Hockey award will be narrowed down to five finalists on Friday, Feb. 16 before the winner is announced at the Ms. Hockey Banquet on Feb. 25 at the Saint Paul River Centre along with the winner of the Jori Jones Award.

Based on nominations from high school coaches and voted on by a panel of high school and college coaches, the Jori Jones and Ms. Hockey Awards are based on the criteria of academics, community/extracurricular activities, citizenship, coachability, and on-ice performance.

Through 21 games played, Timmons has posted a 13-8-0 record with a 2.15 goals against average and .913 save percentage. Helping the Ponies remain ranked in the top-15 this season, Timmons has tallied eight shutouts and is expected to graduate with more than 50 wins in goal. A two-time All-Conference goaltender and a 2022 USA Hockey National Development Camp participant, Timmons looks to become the first Goaltender of the Year honoree to represent Stillwater since the award's inception in 1999.

As a four-time All-Suburban East Conference honoree, St. Martin recently earned a gold medal with Team USA at the 2024 IIHF U18 Women's World Championships, where she led the team in scoring with six goals and three assists. A consistent force on the ice, St. Martin ranks second in all-time scoring at Stillwater Area High School with 237 points in her four seasons with the Ponies, while as a senior, she currently tallies 56 points through 20 games played. St. Martin also had the opportunity to become the first Pony to be named Ms. Hockey since the award's inception in 1996.

In addition to Let's Play Hockey, the Jori Jones and Ms. Hockey awards are annually sponsored by the Minnesota Wild, Tradition Companies, and the Minnesota Girls Hockey Coaches Association.

Presented by Let's Play Hockey, the Senior Goaltender of the Year Award was recently renamed in honor of Jones, a 2022 semifinalist who passed due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident last summer.
